Mission: find a new troy (going to be rome) and must talk with his father"s ghost. Golden bough from his mother: token to keep him safe in the underworld. The two go to the riverbank to the boat of the ferryman of the underworld, charon: ferries souls of the dead from the over world into the underworld for a fee. Before entering the underworld, he meets the ghost of his helmsman palinurus who was washed over board and killed (body never buried) and the ghost of his lover, the queen. Still angry, turns her back on him and walks away. They approach tartarus but do not enter it: discussion on who is inside.
