Greek gods and religions are two different things intertwined. Homer(cid:495)s texts did not have laws or amendments but all these texts involved the gods and explained an (etiology of things) things such as the story promotheus explaining the origin of sacrifice. It also tells us many things about the features of gods. The greek religion was bound to the polis. It was a very public thing in which all the citizen community is involved. Panhellenic; each greek city has its own distinct religious festivals. The greeks did not really have one word equivalent to our word religion.
