Establish with the client what will work and what will not. Imminent risk of psychological/physical harm: find safety. Protect individuals from harming or getting harmed. Perception of what is happening that exceeds said persons resources to cope. 1: loss of control, acute emotional upset arising: developmental, situational, existential, systemic sources, caused by one or a series of events. Changes in life: graduation, marriage, first child, retirement. Affects all parts of life: food, survival, economic. Perceived threat as if it was happening in the moment. Symptoms may be substance use, personality changes, stop of medication etc. Many people (other than psychiatrists can help) Being in a crisis may be temporary. Crisis does not relate to emotional/mental disorders.
