First, there was a complete disregard for people with dissbilities. There was forced sterilization to annihilate disabled persons. There were numerous influences and advocates to support individuals with differences. Gradually, there was a confluence of research and parents. Neurodiversity: we require different types of brains and abilities. Early history: education was very elitist: very bright and very wealthy. At the turn of the century, the french government wanted to see who would most benefit from education so binet came up with a measure to see who would benefit from formalized education. He came up with the iq (intelligent quotient) he looked at a series divided between verbal and nonverbal. 85 to 115 is the average. 1800 institution: the non-educationally retarded would not benefit from education. 1900-1950: time of categorization (asperger, etc) with the labels also came public education and separate school for individuals in these categories. A lot of the researches were on categories.
