In early era, china is very dominant over other countries. Korea is focused on imitating china or resisting them. 16th century= beginning of exploration in east asia. Main concern becomes keeping the west out of own nation. Country starts to modernize and become more of a western nation. Build up huge military (army and navy) Instead of just resisting the west they also become the aggressors. 1950-1953: korean war: 38th parallel divides north and south korea, proxy war. China fighting through north korea, us fighting through south korea. Korean war never declared over, technically still going on. South korean flag- ying and yang as well as trigrams. A lot of information is what we would call a myth. For the most part people think its 20-40,000 years ago. V shape has a comb pattern (made with comb). Shape is very similar to a traditional japanese shape ex: sake bottle. Came from korea but was culturally imported into japan.
