Within christianity, 3 major parts: catholicism, protestantism, eastern orthodoxy. Conflicts between faith and reason many times this has been true. In catholicism faith and reason shouldn"t contradict each other. Faith and reason as two wings that lead to the contemplation of truth. (pope john. Classical (greek/roman; christian: intrinsic and universal among particulars, nature is what all things of a particular type have in common and define what they are, ex. All humans have same (universal) human nature: prior to society, man-made law, all things: matter + form. Nature based in form : think: dna, organizers/determines species, powers, final end/purpose (gk. Telos) = completion of powers: e. g. , acorn becomes an oak tree. Human nature: human body, rational soul (form, rational, power of right reason, animal, power of instincts, procreation, raising of offspring, vegetative. Insensible, something we have in common with all vegetative life: the power of natural processes, such as growth.
