Kinship is itself a kind of doing, a practice that enacts that assemblage of significations as it takes place to say that gender is performative, means that it produces a series of effects. We act in certain ways to consolidate of what it means to be a woman or a man. Social conditioning and agency (free action) she is distinguishing between social construction and agency there is a lot of social conditioning o social recognition. Moving away from biological or natural consensus there is nothing interior that marks your gender o o. Nussbaum --> genitalia doesn"t reflect one"s masculinity or femininity. Challenge to hypothesized heterosexual kinship: biological, natural, sexual basis o living blood relations, ancestral heritage, legacy of descendants.
