Richard on ice hit referee so nhl president suspended richard for season & playoffs. *although richard claimed pushing referee away to not get hit. Mtl habs fans wanted to provoke nhl president. Cause = because of quebec economy managed mostly by english canadian so riot against anglos. Richard riot = showed coming of age of french population because of suspension of richard. 3- habs beat bruins 1st round 2008 playoffs. *habs no longer winning many games so when made playoffs & started to improve. Ex: video in 2008 playoffs = many people in the street & projectiles thrown everywhere *police still.
