Explanatory power that extends beyond the particular example you are looking at. In this way they connect ideas across examples at topic areas or i can focus in on different aspects of a topic. Teachers must design instruction for all children to do rigorous academic work in school and have equitable access to learning. The measure of good teaching is student learning. Teachers must be responsive to the requirements of the school environment. Eliciting and responding appropriately to student thinking e. g. , pressing, revoicing. Establishing and maintaining expectations for student participation. Using a public record of student thinking. Good scaffolding and support for inquiry- based teaching. Particularly for novice teachers and for teachers moving into inquiry. So there is a reason we use an ambitious teaching model in teacher education. Ambitious teaching is based on good pedagogical practice. As you move from being novice teachers to being teachers, people are going to try to sell you packaged resources.
