Involves the senses, and people"s perception of their environment. Aesthetics can be used to develop personal moral systems. The beautiful is judged by the form of an object, engaging the intellect. The sublime affects people pre-rationally (eg large spaces, power of nature) Separatists believe there"s a divide between morality and aesthetics. Non-separatists acknowledge the interconnection of morality and aesthetics. Dispositive is a disposition about action (eg: an impulse to protect something) Imagination and aesthetic appreciation leads to personal creativity. Appreciation of something"s beauty may lead us to be more inclined to protect it. Inanimate objects can be repaired, whereas damage to living things can be lethal. We must perceive natural beauty the right way and respond appropriately. We must reflect on our place in the world and in relation to nature. People who appreciate natural beauty are more likely to have good moral values. Mature aesthetic appreciation of beauty encourages moral maturity. Aesthetic value of nature is objective, creates rhetoric.
