FACC 400 Space Exploration
The Journey to Mars
Video: as humanity expanded, technology advanced. In 1969, the first return from the moon was
successful. There are many reasons why humans want to travel to Mars. Especially because of
over population on earth and survival of humanity. Colonization is very important to space
exploration. Going into space will not fix global warming. Radiation problem can be a reason not
to colonize Mars. However, humans would have to live underground. Despite the planet being
tested for security, humans will have to be able to grow plants or food. Food, water and necessary
supplies for living need to be provided. The space industry is a trillion-dollar industry. We have
to figure out if space exploration is worth it or not.

Panelists: since 1975, there have been new researches on space exploration. There are many
theories on why humans should colonize Mars. The main reason why we should start going into
space is to avoid human extinction. Stephen Hawking also argued that we need to go into space
in order to survive many accidents and phenomena that have been attacking earth. Nowadays,
we have access to deadly weapons and many other things that hurt people for no reason at all.
Investments are necessary in order to go to Mars. New systems with less carbon emissions should
be acquired.
Energy is not the only reasons why space exploration is so difficult, but also the natural disasters
that can cause. On average, the actual budget is about 1.4 billion dollars and this money is
administrated by NASA. The budget keeps going up and down in the last couple of years. NASA
monitors every single launch with multiple cameras in order to minimize disasters. There have
been many disasters in the history of NASA but many things have been learned from all these
mistakes. A big percentage of the space exploration budget is spent on security and safety.
Research and development are a couple of benefits that come after space exploration. SpaceX is
one of the most successful companies. Pollution into space is also a very big issue that comes up.
