Cinema had to get people out of their houses, more competition between cinema and tv as compared to tv and radio. This is the moment that cinema tries to say that they aren"t tv and they do so by being technicolour, widescreen etc. (cinema tries very hard to differentiate themselves from tv. In the 20-30s in cinema you would also see news reels and animations etc. which are all the things that tv takes over. The actuality affect really change and shift to tv. Encourages a different kind of experience, watching at home doesn"t take all of your focus while cinema takes your entire focus (cinema becoming a serious art form)
