Geography of the world economy october 16th. We classify their movements by where they are from urban or rural. Rural to urban migration is the most significant. We are right now in middle of greatest human migration in history. Displacements can be due to war, country changes. In china, in last 3 decades 220 million people have moved internally into cities. When mao ruled china, he tried to keep people in rural settings. In china a worker can make a rural year"s wages in a month in city. This is a big draw for people to move to cities. Some chinese cities have gdps that are larger than small european countries. Geography of urbanization in china is a huge part of the development in china. In india about 100 million people are moving in country as well. Internal migration, in terms of numbers, is greater than international migration. Natural resources are things that we need for development.
