Document Summary

We will talk about the costal systems, waves, how they form, when the waves get close the coasts. Reading # 7 is on this lecture (processes on geomorphology) Everyday wind waves concentrate energy from the entire area of the water body and focus it along coastlines. If the coast line is in a deep bay something is happening when the waves are entering the bay. If the coast line has a river throwing a lot of sand it may feed very big beaches because there is a very large supply of sediments. We are going to talk about beaches, sand spits (which are related to beaches), coastal erosions (places where the coast is getting eroded, you can see in the image that the houses are falling/hanging) The ocean is out here, you have a rocky island off the coast, there is some sand where there are two beaches connecting the mainland to the rocks.
