Document Summary

Adaptation opens resource systems based on the perceived envr. Resource systems (systems that bring us economically positive things) run in envr systems. We manipulate resource systems but often fail to see the envr systems connected to them. In canari, corsica, there was an asbestos mine. There is a nearby beach, ocean coastline, villages (currently expanding into tourism). It is protected partly because it is marginal- coastline. Human intelligence however, allowed for fishing/boats/fishing economy, etc. Humans also adapted by communication (roads from trails) and building homes on mountainside. The land is not productive, very thin and subject to rain/winds= not a lot of bioproductivty, easy to erode. Human adaptation used technology to make walls that hold the water into ground instead of letting it flow down the mountain. Access to water is necessary to human survival. Human resourcefulness developed the ability to dig into mountains to access source of the spring and channel it into wells for local/domestic use.
