Medical:
Person has a disability and impacts the way they go through the world
Social:
It’s a disability because of the way society is structured like someone who can’t walk is disabled

A way of thinking about how the world disables people and people are disabled- a framework
Eugenics movement:
Social Darwinism that only the fit will survive and apply that to humans
For forced sterilization of people- nazi’s used this philosophy
US government sterilized people who were disabled and criminals so they couldn’t pass down
their genes
Stereotypes that people that are disabled faced
This dichotomy with the stereotypes and how people with disabled lives are casted and legislated
over with laws

Intersex- hermaphrodite
Hermaphrodite is both male and female genitals at once which doesn’t describe all intersex
people
A lot or intersex surgeries that have no consent

Grown up and didn’t find out until later that they were intersex and said they wouldn’t have
wanted it
Issues with constant infections and other infections and a lot of side effects
Sometimes the language- links made between people who are intersex and transgender
Sometimes confusion around the two groups
Surgeries are done to them as children whereas transgender community trying to advocate for
surgeries
