Confucius means: the meaning of life lies in the community: good servant, good neighbour, connected, develop humanity, beautiful human being. Most of buddhism in china is mahayana buddhism. Worship, do all the right things enter buddhist paradise. Life is suffering; chinese have different attitude, changed fashion. Ancient chinese text: confucius: villans gets rich, good people don"t get rewards, still important to be humane. Reincarnation, appeals to chinese, good might come in next life. First century of common era (eastern han) onward, buddhism in chinese soil. Ancestors pass it on to descendants, small chain. Entire landscape of china: didn"t have any organized religion before. Buddhism integrated in different way in north and south. Gov"t helped monks, sponsorship is very important. Daoism originated hand in hand with buddhism. Practices and ideas go back in early time.
