Founding members of the sncc (student nonviolent coordinating committee) Ella baker emerged from the sclc where she felt a little marginalized despite her advocacy. Sent ella baker to a student meeting but she reneges and pushes for the formation of the. Sncc extended the message that direct action was more important to drawing national attention to civil rights and advancing the cause most effectively. Shocks mlk and the old guard leadership, creating a generational rift.
