Start studying with lectures and slides (look at terms) Strachan is used for context and fit events into a specific narrative. 2 films - broader message of film and significance of characters. Germans began to call the war weltkreig - world war. The direction of the war was influenced by a great imperial mindset. Most countries did not enter the war with imperialism in mind, but by 1918 this became important for the entente powers. War involved 5 million european and non-european soldiers. Thought they could civilize the world in what they understood to be proper civilization.
