Last one to berlin: the collapse of the third reich. Last time we left off with the success of the normandy campaign and the beginnings of the long allied efforts in the west. One that would test their resolve, and their operational capabilities. Allied armour units had learned how to cross bocage , which was a big hedge in the way of tanks. These were interlaced on all of the fields of nw france, and made it impossible for tanks and armoured vehicles to cross these open fields, without specially fitted hedge cutters. 1944, most allied tanks had these hedge-cutters fitted on the front of their vehicles. In beginning to navigate the open country of nw france, the allies nearly catch the germans in a pocket. As the allies dash across france, soldiers are filled with exhilaration. Soldiers were filled with a sense of glory, felt godlike.
