Germany initially only wanted to rid country of jews, would settle for just deporting them, 340,000 in germany and austria manage to leave before world war ii, though 100,000 of those end up in states later occupied by germany. Haavara (transfer) agreement 1933 agreement between zionist leaders and nazi government in which jews leaving germany gave the government their property, in exchange for the german government to send that value of that property in german goods in palestine. Very controversial, especially since many jews supported boycott of germany at the time. Marriage of convenience, not made because of any ideological empathy.
