Document Summary
Muscular endurance mus(cid:272)le"s a(cid:271)ility to produce force over and over again. Ability of a muscle to produce force, often represented by the 1-rm. Amount of work performed in a given amount of time, often considered the product of strength & speed. Mus(cid:272)le"s a(cid:271)ilit(cid:455) to produ(cid:272)e for(cid:272)e mus(cid:272)le"s a(cid:271)ilit(cid:455) to keep o(cid:374) *important to know what component to improve producing force. 1-protection from injury/prevention & 2- improved sense of well-being (psychological benefits) 3-improved physical performance : sport / recreational activities / everyday activities. 4-increased resting metabolic rate = burning more calories in general even when doing nothing) 5-maintenance of bone mineral density/prevent bone loss = more load on bones=bone stronger. ***improved strength = doesn"t matter why choose to exercise, can still enjoy all benefits. To increase strength, must tax/push our muscles beyond their accustomed/normal loads. When muscles produce high (but not necessarily maximum) levels of force time & time again, they respond, over time, by becoming larger (hypertrophy)
