Received the highest honour that the french government awards to people (developed by napoleon) The theory is that napoleon was murdered by arsenic poisoning by the british: he sent hair samples (from napoleon"s belongings) It was found that the amount of arsenic in the hair was consistent with poisoning. 1891 dr. gosio (italy) became concerned by a large number of deaths in children seemingly without cause. He discovered an association between the deaths and wallpaper. The wallpaper adhesive acted as a nutrient source for mold. When contaminated with mold, the organisms would metabolise arsenic into volatile compounds which then infected the children causing death. Adults were likely affected as well but because the dose to weight ratio was lower, they wouldn"t die right away.
