How do you motivate people to work safely?
• Train them properly to perform the work
• Think about reinforcement (set specific goals for them to achieve and reward their good
behavior)
• Employers must offer their employees protect devices as well as the opportunity to foster
a positive safety climate
• Employers must also be able to appropriately discipline their employees in order to
ensure that they act responsibly
Incident Investigation
• Ideally, you want to determine what caused the accident
• The investigation is conducted by OHS specialists since they know how the workplace
functions on a daily basis
• They take pictures, conduct interviews, pass out surveys → all of which help them figure
out the cause of the accident
• Ultimate goal is to prevent the reoccurrence of such an incident
