Vitamin a (don t need much to overdose-> watch multivitamins) Dextromethorphan (cough medication)= cns abnormalities risk of defect. Zinc (alcohol, enviro, cigarettes, diet, infections)-> metallothionine (stress protein)- > acts as antioxidant (protective) and inc. with alcohol, infections, etc. ; binds with trace metals like cadmium in cigarettes but also essential metals like zinc= less to enter blood of fetus to nourish it.
