Diseases of the circulatory system are the biggest cause of death in men and women in. Cancer is the second biggest cause of death but is very close to cvd. As blood pressure increases, mortality increases in parallel. The lowest mortality ratio is seen in people with a blood pressure of 120/80. A blood pressure of even less than 120 may even be more beneficial to prevent cvd. With each 20/10 mm hg increase in blood pressure, Ideally, you would have a normal curve that would not be very wide. In reality, the curve is more spread out and fewer people have a normal blood pressure and more people are hypertensive. Increases with exercise: should not increase with age, but statistically it does. There are countries where it does not increase with age. These are countries that consume less salt and get more exercise. Essential (idiopathic) hypertension is not due to a known disease.
