Cytokines produced depend on the prr that are triggered when the apcs first see the antigen. Th1 helper cells are effectors against ic bacteria and protozoa: triggered by il-12, il-2 and their effector cytokine is ifn- , tnf-beta, il-2. Th2 helper cell are effectors against ec parasites: triggered by il-4 and their effector cytokines are il-4, il-5, il-9, il-10 and il-13. Th17 mediate host immunity against ec bacteria and fungi: triggered by il-6 and tgf-beta and their main effector cytokines are il-17a, il-21, 22. Type of cd4+ th cell dictates the ab response via class switching. Th17 more igg2b and iga, works in the gut. Iga has a neutralizing function and can be transported across the epithelium (gets to the gut) Helper cd4 cells are helping the b cells to do their jobs. Recognizing an epitope on a viral protein coat: b cell can bind, internalize and degrade the virus particle protein.
