Document Summary

What can we learn from science about reality? i. e. about nature and the structure of the world. There are many elements we can analyse and understand using science such as genes, biology, atoms, elements etc . This shows that it is not a robust position to hold since theories always change. Theoretical claims cannot be individually testes (holism) we cant test individual hypothesis but rather systems. So it is weak to think that every case of our theory has been tested because that is impossible. Evidence cannot uniquely decide between theories (underdetermination) The evidence might show that other theories are true. Theories posit entities that cannot be directly observed. There are qualities which can not directly be observed and therefore could not count as evidence. We need several different kinds of realism to nd the right one. Before doing that we need to distinguish" between three things: meaning, truth and belief. This sentence may or may not be true.
