PHIL 221 Lecture Notes - Lecture 12: Abstract And Concrete, Special Sciences, Thai Royal And Noble Titles
Document Summary
So far we have discussed many philosophers with different views about science: carnap, popper, and khun. They have one thing in common which is they are all focused on scienti c theories as the main achievements of sciences and the primary objects of philosophical analysis. Theories may inform these other research subjects but there is no good reason to think that theorising is the ultimate aim of all research. This is obvious especially when looking at examples of sciences apart from astronomy and physic. There is no reason to think that one method in science is rules all of the sciences. It could be said that there are different methods depending on the sciences, the thing that matters is that they are useful in the science they apply to. Philosophers in science after the 80"s have observed more the method of sciences. They have as well realised that there is a variety of methods for speci c special sciences.
