Document Summary

Phil 237 part ii: on monogamy (15/06/2016) Dating decide exclusivity/parameters, give it a label. Any deviation is seen not only as a failure, but as proof that the relationship was worthless all along. Love is permanent, at least in intent, and more or less exclusive. A normal person cannot deeply love more than a few individuals even in a lifetime. We may be suspicious that those who claim to attempt or claim to love many may do so weakly, if at all (goldman phil of sex; 62) People who want relationships (sexual or otherwise) but whose other commitments preclude being on the escalator say they have kids or a demanding career, or even just prioritize friendships. People who simply don"t want normative relationships say someone who has no desire to share a home or finances with a partner, and who pursues only casual sexual relationships. People who pursue ethical non-monogamy in various forms.
