Phenomenology borrowed from ponty (body both observes and constitutes the word) and beauvoir (women have a way of existing in patriarchal society, subject-object) Tries to find a biological causality; not in anatomy. Situation being a woman is being a situation (relation between self and the world that is co-constituted; reciprocal, world constitutes me and i constitute it = situation) Men transcend their bodily determinacy; women are placed more thoroughly than men in their body; less control over meaning; internalized objectification. Claims her claims are towards this epoch and culture. Interiorizing their space; shows women have a more limited imagined space. Bodies not smth they are acting on the world through, but in the way of action. Modes of movement: ambiguous transcendence (realizing the world is out there for you to constitute?, masculine corporeal style emphasizes constitution and acting through, feminine corporeal style caught between acting and being acted upon. Taking up space ^^^ correlates to social life.
