April 16 Socrates as a Creature of Resentiment (sp?) Is Socrates a man of vengeance? He is unable to exact real revenge, to seize power against the aristocracy of Athens, he enacts an unhealthy revenge upon them via rationalization. Nietzsche: is Socrates a man who exhibits a slave morality? Geneaology: good, noble and healthy individuals became aristocrats; mediocre individuals became the common people. These people expressed no joy and only felt deprivation, and declared war on the fortunate, but to no avail. So they turn on themselves, and they attempt to reinterpret values.
