Document Summary
Chapter 3 theory oriented research and the issue of causality. Basic and applied research: applied research: research directed at finding answers to specific problems, with immediate practical use. Indicates how things are but does not explain why they are that way: used by governments, businesses, marketing agencies, hospitals ect. , basic research: aims to broaden our understanding of political life.
