The indeterminate consequences of anarchy: the constructivist view lecture. The poverty of materialism: brute facts vs. social facts, behaviour vs. action, action =behaviour + meaning. Social facts: only works as a collective social act. Depends on the ideas shared by the people. It is only paper with ink but it has a social value: regulative vs. constitutive rule. Constitutive rules: rules to regulate an already existing rule. Regulative rules: rules of action used to determine how to respond or behave. Breaking the constitutive rules because the genocide is no longer making it a civil war. They were fighting a civil war and creating a genocide as something else. For ex: without a husband there is no wife: the nature of social structures. For ex: the cold war ended when states stop acting. The individual and the social construction of reality.
