- Rent seeking: generating economic advantages from private activities that are of a public
measure ; gov might make a monopoly to favour a particular industry so that they get
benefits from that monopoly ; seeking rent from an activity produced by the government ;
licenses offered from governments to particular companies to ensure a monopoly on a
particular good/service/activity
- Federal concepts: confederation debate: federation concept came from the issue of
French Canadians ; canada was not to become a unitary system of government but needed
to reconcile with provincial sectors of government
