Quebec was last to grant right to vote to indigenous peoples (1969) Not at the push of first nation/inuit people necessarily; although inuit people have been more ok with being part of the canadian structure. Looking at selves as dual citizens problem: unilateral imposition; passports don"t recognize dual citizenship. On reserves, councils can say no to ballots. Elections canada doesn"t always know what they"re doing. Indigenous voters = not necessarily on reserves (which are only for status. Indians), so statistics can be slightly skewed when it comes to how many.
