th Feb 9Societal Level Explanations of WarfareNational AttributesSome cultures ideologies or religions promote warlike attitudes are more warprone Yet almost every culture has experienced war at some point in its history There must be another factor which contributes to the causes of war Why is it that some peaceful cultures have experienced intense periods of conflict Regime TypesDemocracies encompass norms of behaviour change rarely happens through violent means Therefore democracies tend to favour compromise over violence and may project this norm of diplomatic behaviour in the international sphere Democracies apply the norm of diplomacy to each other while nondemocratic governments apply norms of coercion Democracies require complex political procedures to engage in conflict institutional and political mobilization
