Readings will be posted on course website. Come to class prepared, do all readings beforehand. Midterm exam: in class, 7 oct. : 20% Research essay: 10-12 double- spaced pages; due 30 nov. : 30% Final exam (cumulative): to be scheduled during the final exam period- 30: mixed essay and short answer questions. Studying and comparing state behavior and decision making. We assume the thinking that dictates all choices in each state is all the same. We can take all states as a black box , does not matter which state, as they all react the same way to different circumstances. Field that has a slant towards understanding concerns about security. War is a question of life vs. death for entire countries at war, therefore security is/ has been an overarching theme of i. r.
