Ii- canvass (ethical) reasons for attending to global health. Equality is the result of human organization . The world is as it is as a result of human organization => politics, not fate. Utilitarian reasons (consequentialists) => undermining the proximity argument : promote greater good of humankind, achieve enormous benefits for only small sacrifices. Libertarian reasons (libertarian in the sense of radical liberty, eg : new hampshire licence plate slogan : live free or die ) : amend historical injustices (that rich countries have contributed to). Egalitarian and human rights reasons : promote equality of opportunity, improve the situation of the worst-off, promote respect of human rights to have basic needs met, reduce undeserved inequality (inequity) in well-being.
