I- global mental health and the movement for global mental health. How people express and understand their suffering : how cultural variation affects mental health. Our own approaches, our own way of framing problems => not universally applicable. Ii- the logic of gmh: psychiatric epidemiology, dalys and disparities. What we know about mental health is based on 10 % of the world"s population. We may thus be missing part of what is going on. Psychatric hospital in sri lanka : typical scenario. Classic symptomatic problems with specific medications that correspond to them. But not enough for people to be integrated. Around the world, people with mental health problems are stigmatized. Emotional problem persists in spite of new house (loss of his loved ones) basic mental health care through the primary health care system. Unfortunately, the primary health care system is weak in many countries.
