Complex disorder that can present itself in different ways. A bit more on prosopagnosia : perceptually-based or apperceptive, failure to perceive aspects of the face, meaning-based or associative. Inability to match a percept to facial memories. Tested a patient with acquired prosopagnosia and control participants: studied the identity of people by seeing face image and voice pairs, at test, shown face images or voices and asked if they were form people they studied. Evidence for compensation for visual deficits using auditory cues for recognition. Last class: gibson, when we move in the visual environment, we pick up on cues that let us perceive, problem with this view , perception can be interpreted differently depending on our context. Pattern recognition views : template matching, prototype models. Feature detection views : pandemonium model. Selective attention : models of selective attention, early and late filter models, load theory. The limits of attention : attentional blink task, an attention disorder , spatial neglect.
