An event almost 60 years ago in september, vickery - said he formed the subliminal projection company: Massive impact of just flashing images that people could not even see but somehow led them to act in ways that increased cells. Alarming at the time and set off a hysteria about advertising controlling minds- editorials in newspapers across na denouncing this activity and laws passed. Guidelines produced in ad industry to ban this or argue against or forbid brainwash or mind-control. Used the term subliminal- below threshold of conscious awareness. Liminal means the threshold- something just below that where you are not aware of it. Important thing about this study= he admitted that he lied, he never did a study- he was just trying to sell a project, drum up business for his failing advertising company. Interesting idea about how susceptible we may be to various influences that we are not consciously thinking of. Idea that has been around for centuries.
