PSYC 304 Lecture 6: September 22nd
Document Summary
Interested in controlling what stimulus the kid gets. Moms that are seven months pregnant read a story to their kids twice a day until the kid is born. The story that they read is the cat in the hat. This is the same as the cat in the hat but they switched out some words to make it different. They wanted to see if the prenatal exposure would affect their post-natal behavior. The study was done when the babies were approximately 56 hours old. Conditions: you cross over all the possible combinations. Kids who listened to cat in the hat in the womb: Either listen to cat in the hat after birth or dog in the fog after birth. And vice versa, so you get all combinations. They used another mother and did a recording. Every mother also recording herself reading either one of the stories. So every kid got tested on their non-mom.
