People with any mood disorder has increased chance of having other mood disorder (statically evident) Also affected by dsm: with hierarchy version people are less possible to be diagnosed with both gad and med. Simply results from math problems that people are likely to have more than one criteria met/by chance. Odds of mdd for adult females= 20%, odds of anxiety disorder for adult females= 20%, 4% will have both. But comorbidity in reality is much higher than chance event. Sampling bias: people with disorders, and more severe disorders are more likely to seek out treatments. Problems with the diagnostic criteria (overlapping criteria) E. g. suicidal ideation and sleeplessness occurs in many disorders because of shared neural or environmental factors.
