September 16, 2014: oxytocin can be used to improve, social perception: our ability to identify different social roles we have in our environment in addition to the roles other people have. This is really important to have to be able to detect sarcasm: theory of mind: aka mentalizing, this is our ability to infer the emotion/mental state of somebody else. You need to process the emotion of the person and understanding the social context: self-referential processing: who we are, what we like, how we"ve reacted in past experiences. It"s easy to see how it is in theory of mind: ekma 6 basic emotions: seen as more universal. These are emotions all humans can relate to. These different emotions will have prototypical features that define them. We use these features to thematically determine emotion: you have a sort of template in your mind that you use to judge emotions, putting something in context changes it.
