Buddha: the awakened one, from sanskrit verb, buddh to awaken, the lectures will not often use enlightenment but will use awaken . This is because no part of the buddha deals with light, the language of enlightenment is more of a reflection of the vocabulary and word choice of the orientalist: buddha was not born as the buddha. This was a title that earned when he achieved awakening: further, buddha is not a title solely used for the buddha, anyone who becomes awaked is called. Buddha: we do not know when exactly he lived, there is a range of years: 623-543 bce, or 566-486. Bce, or 484-404 bce but they have one thing in common they all add up to 80 years: thus even though the date range changes, all accounts focus on buddha living for exactly 80 years.
