Textbook chapter 2 ( one thousand and forty-nine reasons why it"s hard to know. Where did the facts come from and what the organization of the research conducted wants you to take away from it. Advantages: people will be more cautious about certain topics and situations. Disadvantages: people may believe non-confirmed facts and become confused which would alter a person"s belief and perceptions. Causality is generally difficult to nail down. Longitudinal studies can be used to nail down causation; a research study that is done over a larger period of time. Textbook chapter 4 ( uncovering hidden facts that matter in interpreting individuals". Ethnography is a smaller sample size and is not random whereas surveys are random and have a larger sample size. Pros and cons of survey: surveys are quicker and there is less trust that needs to be developed but many people lie in surveys and then the data becomes unreliable.
