Education/credentials: massive up-scaling of education, college diplomas have increased and contribute massively towards the overall trend of up-scaling, credentials are used to limit entry to jobs, filter potential applicants to specific types of jobs, status attainment model. Do conditions of your birth constrain the opportunities you will have in your lifetime. You can erase the conditions of your birth by getting higher. Human capital: skills that workforce has, they are regarded as a resource or assets. Educate people and train people as an investment -> increase an individual"s productivity. Capital can be deployed in the work place to increase overall efficiency. Vaguely controversial, has been likened to slavery. To explain why productivity grows, you looks at capital endowments of a country/company but after a certain point capital stock cannot explain productivity growth -> therefore human capital matters.
