Document Summary

3 variables in which we can rank people: class (economy), privilege (status), party (political power) Status (non-economic) and class (economical) = power is the outcome. Status= having status in terms of a state. So, status and class = two bases of power. In a capitalist society, class power and economical power is becoming more and more important. Historically, status was more important than class but now class is more important than status (in an economic society) Position of how well you do in a given society. You see the difference here with marx (= its not about property ownership) Weber says: it"s not whether or not you own the means of production, that can help but he doesn"t say these things are relevant. The labor market and capital market are two of the most market to have your position in, but whether you own your means of production doesn"t define your position in the market.
