What is Culture Culture  Culture is “that complex whole which includes knowledge, belief, art morals, customs, and any other capabilities and habits acquired by man as a member of society.” - Edward Burnett Tylor. o culture is acquired by being a member of society, it’s a product of society.  Is learned from others in the process of growing up in a particular human society or group  Is shared by the members of that society or group.  is responsible for most of the differences in ways of thinking an behaving that exist between human societies or groups.  Is so essential in completing the psychological and social development of individuals that a “cultureless” individual would not be considered normal by other people. o Culture is shared and learned and makes individuals part of a larger group.  Mental components include all the knowledge and information about the world and society that children learn while growing up: o Attitudes about family, friends, enemies and other people o Notion about right and wrong o Conceptions about proper roles for males and females o rules of etiquette and good manners o beliefs about the supernatural o standards for sexual behaviour o perceptions of the world, and so on...  The culture of a group consists of shared, socially, learned kn
